We'll keep them in their comfort zone when you want to get out of yours!
Tom works 1-2 times per month, and Joan can work from anywhere with WiFi, which leaves us plenty of time to pet and housesit.
In addition to house and pet sitting for friends and family over the years, we've kept our own tidy homes and happy pets for decades, ourselves. Now we can do that for you!
Tom has been a tour guide for over 12 years, after retiring from the corporate world. Joan's been an entrepreneur/writer for her entire adult life and now owns a travel agency! She has always had at least one animal by her side, usually two. From 12 week old puppies, to old and gray then gone away. Some of her pets were on lifelong medication, so she has no problem distributing pills, drops or suppositories to your fur babies.
Joan's daughter had several small animals from goldfish to guinea pigs, so she's very familiar with the needs of caged animals, too.
We travel around the world whenever we can. Tom has been to over 55 countries, and Joan is trying to catch up!
That much travel gives us lots of experience in different cultures and settings. We love exploring outdoors and meeting new people and their pets! We are a quiet non-smoking couple, in bed by 10pm! We love cooking, reading and writing, learning and travel, of course!
Tom managed a house as a very busy Airbnb in Portland, OR for a year while the occupant was in The Peace Corps. Joan had a few rental properties to maintain and manage. This gave us lots of experience in all aspects of household management as well as housekeeping.
We are a trustworthy, responsible middle aged couple that will take excellent care of your home and your most prized possessions.
Tom has experience working at a doggie hotel where he cared for and trained dogs. Joan has volunteered for dog rescues throughout her life. She started her own petcare business in Oregon. If it wasn't for the opportunity to travel with Tom, she would still be servicing those wonderful clients.
Joan has been certified in animal CPR and emergency training. We've cared for pets with all kinds of special needs and conditions. If your pet needs exercise, it's in good hands since our favorite activity is walking. We have the freedom to travel, so we do, and pet sits give us our "pet fix", so know that we will bask in the companionship.
Kate
I’ve had easy dogs all my life, and have never had problems finding friends or neighbors to watch my past dogs. But last year (early 2022) my husband and I adopted a 6-month-old cattle dog puppy who came from an Indian Reservation in Idaho. While I’ve always had rescue mutts, I’ve never adopted such a young dog, and she was my first cattle dog (she was listed as such, but she looked like a shepherd mix, so I fell for it, haha). The second we arrived home from the rescue, Zoë became totally reactive to my husband (she was great w him and everyone at the rescue, and was listed as loving everyone). It took 10 full days for her to even let him near her. Six months later, we adopted our 1st “second dog,” which worked out great for us and for her. But she has always been very reactive to people, especially on our property. I realized it’d be just about impossible to travel together and leave the dogs w anyone.
